Goat Rodeo - Bucking the trend

Coming across a new product is such a pleasure and I was thrilled when I found this little tin of joy in my local deli.

Goat Rodeo is a female led business making pickles and spice blends in Stirlingshire, and my newest favourite is their Spicy Disco Mix. A dried blend of different peppers, various chillis and herbs, it brings punch and complexity to any number of dishes. Here are my current top 5:

1.       Toss your roasties in a couple of tablespoons for the last 10 minutes of cooking for a spicy, herby crunch.

2.       Pimp up a tin of chickpeas by blending them with 2 tbsp of tahini, a hearty glug of extra virgin rapeseed oil and 1 tbsp of Spicy Disco Mix for a delicious lightly spiced hummus.

3.       Sprinkle over your perfectly poached eggs.

4.       Use 1 tbsp mixed with a pinch each of caster sugar and Blackthorn salt to coat the rim your glass and pour in your favourite Spicy Margarita.

5.       Blend with softened unsalted butter and melt a generous dollop over your steak.

Check out their range of pickles – especially the spicy cucumber – which are what your sandwiches have been crying out for.

Spread a slice of freshly toasted sourdough with cream cheese, top with a couple of tablespoons of Hell or High Water Cucumber pickles which are fresh, spicy, juicy and crunchy all at once. Layer a few slices of pastrami and you’ve got yourselves a pretty special lunch.
